Chill out at Old church Ruins

Fresh air, relaxing atmosphere, with a breathtaking view. Old Guiob Church Ruins is a perfect place to enjoy, relax and have a picnic with your family and friends. Located in Brgy. Bonbon in Catarman, Camiguin Phillipines. We often see scars as a painful past that needs to be covered and forgotten, but some scar defines us who we are and what we have today. A disastrous eruption happened, and one of the structures affected was the beautiful old Guiob church. The church lost its roof but its walls and columns still stand today. The church remained its position in the area that serves as a reminder of an apocalyptic past.

The remains were from the old church of the island’s Spanish era capital called Cotta Bato. It is the oldest structure in Camiguin Ssland, walls were covered with small plants and grass.

How to get there:

It has (4) major gateways: Cebu and Bohol (Visayas Region); Balingoan and Cagayan de Oro City (Mindanao area).

There is a a small airport in Mabajao, Camiguin. Cebu Pacific has direct flights to Camiguin from Cebu City. Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific have flights from Manila to Cagayan de Oro (Camiguin’s jump-of-point ) or Butuan. These airlines also have flights to Cagayan from Iloilo, Bacolod, Zamboanga and Davao.

From Cagayan De Oro From Laguindingan airport in Cagayan, take a shuttle van to Agora Terminal, from this terminal, you can take either a Bus or Van to Balingoan Port at an 2 and a half hours travel time.

From Butuan From Butuan Airport, take a cab or motorcycle to the Bus Terminal.From the terminal take the Cagayan- bound bus at an approximately more than two hours. You’ll pass by and stop at Balingoan port where the ferries are schedule for sailing.
